History & Description:
Founded in 1983, the International Christian School is a private,
coeducational day school, offering an American college preparatory
curriculum to the international community in Uijongbu. All
instruction is given in English. Thirteen countries are represented
in the student body.
Accreditation:
International Christian School is accredited by the Association of
Christian Schools International (ACSI), Western Association
of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the Korean Board of Education.
ICS is also a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas
Schools (EARCOS).
School Calendar 2008-2009:
180 school days are divided into two semesters. The first semester is in
session from August 17 through December 18. The second semester
runs from January 11 – June 10. The school day in secondary school
consists of seven 45-minute periods.
Credits and Graduation Requirements:
In grades 9 through 12, one credit is awarded for each one year course
successfully completed, and one-half credit for one semester. A
minimum of 25 credits is required for graduation.
Class Rank & Grade Point Average:
Class rank is based on the cumulative numeric average for grades 9
through 12 (includes high-school level courses taken in 8th grade).
This average includes all high school courses taken at ICS schools,
but not transfer grades from schools other than International Christian
Schools. Numeric scores in AP courses receive an additional 3%, 7%,
or 10%, per semester grade, based on (passing) AP exam scores.
Scholarships:
ICS- Uijongbu pays $4000 each year in college grants,
called the Headmaster’s Scholarship, and offers a summer Work
Scholarship called the Founder’s Scholarship for ICS-UJB alumni.
